Position Summary

Cellars at Jasper Hill in Greensboro, VT has an immediate opening for a bright, motivated ‪Quality Assurance Technician that enjoys working with manufacturing personnel and spending time in production to support the company’s Quality Program. Ideal candidate will be an outgoing, organized, self-motivated individual who can support our quality team by performing a variety of lab functions as well as being a part of our HACCP team, while continuously improving daily functions and understanding how this role impacts other departments. Familiarity with current USDA, FDA policies and procedures desirable.

 Essential Job Responsibilities

·       Perform routine product analysis including bacteriological, chemical, and physical testing of raw milk and finished goods, microscopy, and operation of specialized lab equipment. This position will perform frequent audits of the manufacturing facility

·       Routine culture of bacteria, yeasts and molds

·       Basic Laboratory duties (Media preparation, DNA extraction, Data collection/ analysis)

·       Assist in implementation of HACCP/GMP’s

·       Basic QA duties (sample collection, positive release for incoming and outgoing materials)

·       Provide support during audits

·       Assist in the preparation activities for GFSI audit

·       Collaboration with Production, Shipping and Maintenance staff will be integral

·       Attend and participate in quality meetings

·       Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and laboratory

·       Keep the Quality Assurance Manager informed of all quality results and issues

·       Performing all other duties required or directed by the Quality Assurance Manager


·       Degree in Food Science or related discipline (Microbiology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry)

·       Lab experience/ proficiency in common lab procedures

·       Statistical analysis skills desired

·       Familiarly with problem solving methodology and database management

·       Ability to work independently with direction

·       Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

·       HACCP/food safety knowledge a plus

·       Experience with GMP’s and writing SOP’s is a plus

·       Some travel to other sites required (10 miles radius)

·       Flexible schedule and be open to working weekends
