Position Summary

Andersonville Farm milks a herd 160-180 Holstein cows in the milking parlor of our free-stall barn. The dairy is a primary milk source for Jasper Hill’s artisanal cheeses. Our milking practices are meticulous to ensure the high quality and safety of our raw milk, and thereby the best possible cheese.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proper Milking procedures, parlor cleaning, setting up and cleaning of the parlor
  • Helping with other farm chores such as feeding, cleaning, raising of young stock and fencing
  • Summer Cropping Crew-run equipment

Knowledge and Skill RequirementsExperience milking cows

  • Strong communication skills; computer skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly, ask questions, seek information/answers, problem solve
  • Independently motivated and team oriented
  • Patience and gentleness while handling animals

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 60 lbs regularly, be able to bend and kneel, and have a good sense of balance. This is an intensely physical position.

Compensation depends upon experience. We offer a competitive benefits package including Health Insurance and PTO for full-time employees.
