At Jasper Hill we aim to make the best quality cheese possible, and our creamery team is critical to that goal. Some of our most successful team members have started out with no prior cheesemaking experience, but a great willingness to learn, strong work ethic, and ability to think quickly in a fast-paced environment while keeping food safety in mind. 

Our days start early, and some weekend work is needed. We joke that cheesemaking is 90% cleaning - cleanliness is paramount to the safety and quality of our products, and a great deal of energy goes into making sure we have a clean, safe production space. The work is physical, fast-paced and mentally stimulating, as no two cheese makes are alike. 



  • Follow recipes to produce a variety of cheeses
  • Cheese care (e.g. salting, turning, shipping)
  • Cleaning and sanitizing all cheesemaking and cheese care equipment
  • Following equipment protocols for cheese quality and food safety
  • Use of pH meter, moisture analyzer, and other technical equipment
  • Record keeping to maintain cheesemaking database
  • Assist training visitors and new employees


  • Detail- and process-oriented
  • Reliable & dependable
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivated; asks questions, seeks information, shares concerns & problem solves
  • Able to work closely with others in respectful, cooperative manner
  • Able to work on your feet for long stretches, lift 6-+ pounds
  • 2 years of production work or physical labor preferred
  • Chemistry, microbiology or culinary studies preferred


  • Compensation starts at $12-14/hour, DOE. We offer a competitive benefits package including Health Insurance and PTO for full-time employees 
  • This position is 40-45 hours/week
